Awarding the title of Enterprise of the Year 2010 by Vaasan Yrittäjät Business Association to Malax Loaf Ltd is a fine proof of the appreciation of the local business community for our persistent work. We wish to extend our thanks especially to our clients and employees. We have worked hard to launch our product and improve its visibility in the national market, Mr Jarmo Latvasalo explains. Malax Loaf's turnover has grown year by year and we have increased our sale also on international markets. Malax loaves are now available in Russia and a couple of other countries, in addition to Finland and Sweden.
Jarmo and Lisbeth Latvasalo bought the company in 2001 when the production premises were still located at the birth-place of the loaf, at Åminne in Malax. It was a small company and the market area covered only the old Vaasa Province. Malax Loaf Ltd is a family-owned company. In addition to its owners, it employs their two daughters and sons-in-law as well as skilled bakers.
The company built new production premises by the motor-highway at Runsor in Vaasa in 2009. Our production is fully automated in cleanroom facilities. Consequently, the proportion of manual labour is minimal. We strive at high quality and hygiene – and our new production facilities make it possible.
In Finland, our loaves are distributed by cooperative wholesale chains to retail shops and by HoReCa wholesalers to restaurants and institutional kitchens. In Sweden by wholesalers to retail shops. We are constantly on the look-out for new export markets but, yet, aim at increasing our exports in a controlled manner.
